Put a value on local visibility

Local SEO ROI calculator

What could local search bring your business?

Turn search demand into estimated visits, customers and revenue. Compare your current visibility with a target scenario to explore the value of an SEO investment.

01 / Your local market

Start with your opportunity.

Use relevant monthly searches for your service area and a deduplicated keyword set. Conversion means a paying customer, not just a lead. For lead conversion rates, also account for your lead-to-customer close rate.

ROI assumptions

Optional for revenue estimation. These example values affect ROI only; replace them with your own. Enter zero SEO investment to leave ROI uncalculated.

Use customer revenue from a consistent time horizon. Lifetime customer value produces a lifetime-value opportunity for each month's acquired customers, not monthly cash revenue.

ROI uses additional revenue above your current CTR, adjusted for your contribution margin and SEO investment. Negative results indicate a lower-return scenario. This is a scenario estimate, not a ranking or revenue guarantee.

How this SEO value calculator works

How is revenue opportunity calculated?

Monthly visits = monthly searches x target CTR / 100. Expected customers = visits x customer conversion rate / 100. Revenue opportunity = expected customers x average customer value. Fractional customers represent a statistical average. Twelve-month value assumes twelve identical months.

How is SEO ROI calculated?

Current revenue uses your current CTR with the same search volume, conversion rate and customer value. Incremental revenue = target revenue - current revenue. Incremental contribution = incremental revenue x contribution margin / 100. Modeled ROI = (incremental contribution - monthly SEO investment) / monthly SEO investment x 100. At zero investment, ROI is undefined.

What should I enter for CTR and conversion?

Use your own search performance and customer analytics where available. The prefilled numbers are examples, not industry benchmarks. Align search volume and CTR to the same channel, region and period. Avoid adding overlapping keywords or combining map and organic impressions without deduplication.

Is revenue the same as profit?

No. Contribution margin accounts for the variable costs of serving customers before SEO spend. The result after SEO investment excludes other fixed overhead and taxes. If you use lifetime customer value, ROI is value-based rather than a monthly cash return or payback estimate.

Does this predict my rankings?

No. It models a target CTR immediately and keeps demand and conversion constant. Real SEO takes time and results vary. Seasonality, competition, ramp-up time, repeat visits, capacity limits and attribution are outside this estimate. Calculations run in your browser.

Practical guide

What this tool helps you decide

This local SEO ROI calculator estimates the customer revenue associated with a target click-through rate. It then compares current visibility with the target, applies contribution margin and subtracts SEO investment to model an incremental return.

Use it to discuss a local SEO campaign for a service business, clinic, professional practice or other regional business. The inputs are your scenarios, not promised rankings, search benchmarks or guaranteed sales.

How to use the local SEO ROI calculator

  1. Estimate relevant monthly search demand

Use searches for your service and geographic market. Deduplicate overlapping keywords and keep the search channel and time period consistent with the CTR you plan to enter.

  2. Enter target CTR and customer conversion

CTR turns searches into estimated visits. Conversion should turn visits into paying customers; if your analytics tracks leads instead, include the lead-to-customer close rate when choosing this percentage.

  3. Choose a consistent customer value

Enter the revenue value associated with each acquired customer. A first purchase value and a lifetime customer value represent different time horizons, so label and compare them consistently.

  4. Compare current visibility and SEO cost

Enter current CTR, contribution margin before SEO and monthly SEO investment. Review additional revenue, incremental contribution and modeled ROI, then test a conservative target CTR and conversion rate.

Worked example

At 10,000 relevant monthly searches, a 5% target CTR, 3% visitor-to-customer conversion and $200 customer value, the model estimates 15 customers worth $3,000. A 1% current CTR, 50% contribution margin and $500 monthly SEO budget give the comparison below.

Target monthly visits
500
Expected customers per month
15
Target customer revenue
$3,000.00
Revenue above current CTR
$2,400.00
Incremental contribution after SEO spend
$700.00
Modeled ROI
140%

How to interpret your results

Revenue opportunity is customer value at the target CTR. ROI uses only the increase above current CTR and adjusts it for contribution margin and SEO spend. It excludes other fixed overhead and taxes. With lifetime customer value, the result represents value from newly acquired customers rather than cash collected in the same month.

Common input mistakes to avoid

  • Do not use a lead conversion rate as if every lead becomes a customer.
  • Do not mix lifetime customer value with first-month revenue when comparing scenarios.
  • Do not assume a target CTR is achieved immediately; plan separately for ramp-up and seasonality.

Questions before you use the results

How do I account for leads that do not close?

If 10% of visitors become leads and 30% of leads become customers, enter 3% customer conversion. Multiplying those two stages keeps lead volume from being counted as completed sales.

Why is ROI undefined when SEO investment is zero?

ROI divides net incremental contribution by SEO investment. Division by zero is undefined, so the calculator still shows revenue and contribution but does not invent a percentage return.

Can local SEO and AI visibility be measured together?

Use separate measures. This calculator models search-driven visits and customers, while the AI visibility toolkit records observed mentions, citations and recommendations in generated answers. Compare both against actual leads without counting the same customer twice.
